One of the toughest and best qualities that my father possessed was to stay positive in spite of any hardships, incessant negative comments and adversity!.
He saw light at the end of the tunnel where there wasn't any! which defined his attitude towards life!No matter if criticized, he would move ahead but kept in mind the pit falls as well.
