Comparison

Comparison is  one thing that my father had extremely strong views about.
He often said that it led to negative results as we tend to have the wrong benchmarks like comparing our weaknesses to other's strengths.
If a comparison, helped one to motivate, that would be fine but the amount has to be in the tiniest of bits as it most easily goes negative and one does not learn anything. Failure as compared to comparison( :-)) was a much valuable teacher is what he propounded!. It is usually seen that comparison robs one of excellence or the fire or desire to improve! That happens to be one of the biggest of unnecessary of hurdles to be counted as a contender!.
Hence, his motto being, look on how you can improve, give your best effort ignoring banal comments and insults and move ahead!!!!

To stay calm and sane under extreme pressure

My father had a sense of sanity and common sense that wasn't exhibited by some of the more qualified people. He always was present in times of need and help.
This was a fact recalled and thanked by many people who had their acquaintances with him. It is, in fact, one other tough quality to emulate.
For a person like me, it takes years of self-belief, hard work, patience and perseverance to develop such a character

Quality 2 : Stay Positive

One of the toughest and best qualities that my father possessed was to stay positive in spite of any hardships, incessant  negative comments and adversity!.
He saw light at the end of the tunnel where there wasn't any! which defined his attitude towards life!No matter if criticized, he would move ahead but kept in mind the pit falls as well. Hence to take a calculated risk and have the urge to learn and challenge oneself by sheer dint of will power and hard work was his legacy. An embodiment of positive attitude towards life was his credo!

Quality No.1: Not to give up

Not to give up: this is the first lesson that I have learned from my Dad, my father.
It is not in the intelligence or the dullness of a person that mattered to him. It was, and is, the amount of effort, the sincere hard work that one puts in, is what mattered to him. Not to blame one's circumstances but to adapt and raise above one's inferior thoughts, circumstances, inadequacies and build upon the strengths and weaknesses is what he believed in!
   To put to action one's words and compete, be a contender and not worry about critics or insults or any other negative comments is what he believed in!
This, according to him, naturally entailed a winner!One who is baptized by fire and soak any amount pressure that has one to face in life.
One can develop in to a competitive person with the attitude to challenge mediocrity is what he believed in!

How can cancer be beaten?

When it strikes, the first question is, why me or why has it got to do with me or connected to me?????A subjective one becomes an objective disease.
It affects not only the person effected by it, but also everybody around him/her!....You do the usual bit. Get the best medical help that finance allows you to do.....get counselled!!!!!!if not already know how to handle death..........
Keep yourself sane(at least try), organized......basically spend every minute trying to rout the experience of the ignorant with the wisdom of the learned.......
You train yourself mentally," I am not going to let me and the person afflicted with cancer down!, come what way". A kind of an oath saying that I will find solutions to my own problems and the person's problem(disease, in this case)......
My problems could be with mismanagement, anger, asthma,sore throat, a lack of awareness, plain laziness, indifference too!......
Words are easier than deeds, it lies in the implementation
But sometimes;words of comfort, confidence helps quiet a bit to handle the problem at hand.
Utilizing one's time fruitfully, instead of complaining, is the way forward.

In the lengendary Stephen Hawking's words: "Nobody has the time for you if your constantly angry or complaining!!!!"

And in Mother Teresa's words, "Hands that work are better than lips that pray"
