Comparison is one thing that my father had extremely strong views about.
He often said that it led to negative results as we tend to have the wrong benchmarks like comparing our weaknesses to other's strengths.
If a comparison, helped one to motivate, that would be fine but the amount has to be in the tiniest of bits as it most easily goes negative and one does not learn anything.
